Sandakan Memorial Park,

The Sandakan Memorial Park is adjacent to the site of the original Sanadkan prisoner of war camp.

The story of sandakan is told at several memorial and diplays around the park.

We drove down here in our hire car, we spent a couple of hours walking around the park learning about the horrendous things that happened here and on the "Death March". About 2,400 POWs (mainly Australian) were moved from here away from the approaching allies, to Ranau.
